Founder Kate's Story

Why I'm here (and why you might be here, too)

Hi there, Sister TripWitches!

The details may differ, but I'm guessing the threads of my story will resonate with yours.

When I was three years old, my mom and my grandfather loaded up our old station wagon and took me on a five-week road trip across the United States. "Grampa" was nearing the end of his life. My family wanted a chance for us to make memories together before it was too late.

I still have a three-ring binder of my drawings (okay, scribbles) from that trip… and yes, memories of Grampa, of some wonderful old Americana, and of my vast and beautiful country in all its diversity.

Colorful childhood drawings of a USA road trip, sparking a lifelong love of travel in a neurodivergent midlife woman.

The travel bug that bit me at three years old has stayed with me all my life. It helped instill a deep curiosity about other people and cultures (because I always felt… different, somehow) and a hunger for new-to-me landscapes.

I've been lucky enough to have visited or lived in 20+ countries so far, and I'm nowhere near done.

Yet as much as I love travel, the initial spark for this community came when I finally discovered that part of why and who I am is because I'm neurodivergent (AuDHD & 2e).

* mind blown *

* joy *

Finding your tribe — even if later in life (I was 54) — is such a brain-sparkly feeling!

My diagnoses also made me think a lot about the life I'd lived without knowing… How things could have been, should have been, easier.

And then about how my future is still unwritten, and what I want to do now, with greater understanding of myself. There’s still so much more of me — and the world! — to explore.

I knew it was time to put travel on my front burner… and to help other midlife neurospicy women do the same.

Nothing in life is guaranteed, including whether we'll have a tomorrow. It's up to each of us to live the life — and create the memories — that we truly want.

So here I am with a big travel bucket list (I bet you have one percolating, too!) and I'm determined to help make the memories we want for ourselves come true.

If any pieces of my story strike a chord in you, hooray — that's why you're here. ❤️ Welcome to TripWitches. You've found your tribe.

You are not too old, too much, or too late. In fact, you're right on time.

Let’s wander. Let's grow. Let's sparkle — together. ✈️✨

About TripWitches

Straw sunhat shaped like a witch's hat beside passport, luggage tag, and globe, blending travel dreams with adventure and magic.

If you’re wondering what it means to be a TripWitch, this says it best…

We humbly present this Travel Manifesto for our "midlife and neurospicy" lady Wonderbrains.

We’re so very tired of shoving ourselves into boxes that were never made for us. 📦

Yes, we’re the women who asked too many questions. Who were “too sensitive,” “too much,” “too disorganized.” And we figured out at long last that we weren't the problem.

The world just wasn’t built for the way our brains work.

That's not our fault. And we’re done shrinking.

Happy group of women travelers celebrating neurodivergent friendship and midlife adventure at scenic mountaintop road trip overlook.

Here at TripWitches, we grow by chasing curiosity and wonder across the world. We take journeys that inspire and delight us — everything from nearby & simple to thrillingly epic.

We learn how to use credit card points, pack smart, and savor our time spent exploring. By traveling, we become more free, more alive, more ourselves.

Whether you’re newly travel-curious or have dozens of passport stamps, come chart the next adventure that fits you.

The mission?

To help creative, curious, ND-aligned women rediscover themselves through travel, connection, and play, one joyful step at a time.

We’re not lost — we’re just mapping a new kind of midlife.
